The theme of sustainability has become an imperative in our sector and it is with great pride that ITINERE was certified as a CETS (European Charter for Sustainable Tourism) tour operator for the Parco Nazionale dell’Appennino Tosco Emiliano, at the IIS Pacinotti di Bagnone, on 25 March 2024.
The CETS methodology, promoted by Federparchi and awarded by the Europarc Federation, certifies managing bodies in the acquisition, monitoring and maintenance of sustainable tourism standards. As demonstrated by numerous national and international experiences, CETS promotes a harmonisation and valorisation of the economic forces present on the territory to develop a shared strategy and action plan for tourism.
But what does it really mean to be certified with CETS? And what commitments does it entail for a tour operator?
CETS is an initiative promoted by the Council of Europe to promote and recognise sustainable tourism in Europe. The certification is awarded to operators who demonstrate a strong commitment to adopting sustainable practices in their tourism services, respecting the environment and contributing to the well-being of local communities, in social and economic terms.
For our tour operator, this certification represents tangible recognition of its ongoing commitment to promoting responsible tourism that respects the environment and the people who live in it. It means investing in practices that reduce the environmental impact of our activities and those of our customers, supporting the local economy through collaboration with suppliers and operators in the area, and making our travellers aware of the importance of preserving natural and cultural resources.
We have always been committed to offering tourist experiences that enhance the beauty and biodiversity of the Parco Nazionale dell’Appennino Tosco Emiliano in a sustainable manner, but now even more so. We work closely with local communities to ensure a positive impact on their economies, supporting small businesses and promoting the preservation of cultural traditions.
Being certified with CETS is not just a point of arrival, but rather a new starting point. We will continue to work to constantly improve our practices and offer increasingly sustainable and engaging tourism experiences.
Buying a trip with CETS network providers means promoting tourism that not only allows you to discover extraordinary places, but also preserves their heritage for future generations.
